Have you ever been told, “Everything looks normal,” while still knowing in your gut that something is not quite right with your child?
You are not imagining it.
We meet so many parents who have done everything they were told to do. They have completed testing, tried supplements, started therapies, and collected new diagnoses, yet they are still left wondering how all the pieces connect.
Sometimes the missing piece is not another test looking for disease. It is an assessment of how well the nervous system is functioning and adapting to everyday stress.
That’s exactly why we use Neurological INSiGHT Scans here at Rooted Wellness Chiropractic.
Why We Look at the Nervous System
The nervous system helps coordinate nearly everything your child does, including:
- Sleep
- Digestion
- Movement and muscle tone
- Focus and attention
- Emotional regulation
- Adaptability and resilience
When a child’s nervous system has been carrying too much stress for too long, it may become harder for the body to shift between activity and rest, adapt to change, and recover from everyday challenges.
That stress can look different in every child. Some families notice sleep struggles, digestive discomfort, sensory overwhelm, difficulty with transitions, tension, or emotional dysregulation.
Symptoms tell us that something is happening. The scans help us gather more objective information about how the nervous system may be functioning underneath those struggles.
What Makes INSiGHT Scans Different?
We don’t just run these scans once and call it done. Every child gets scanned on their very first visit, and then again every 12 adjustments, so we can track, in real time, how their nervous system is adapting and changing throughout care.
This isn’t a marketing gimmick, and it’s not about scaring you into a “yes.” It’s simply one of the most important diagnostic tools we have for figuring out exactly what’s driving symptoms like:
- Digestive struggles
- Colic
- Chronic ear infections
- ADHD-type challenges
- Sensory processing struggles
- Hormonal imbalances
- And so much more
The scans work by measuring both sides of the nervous system’s two-way communication: the sensory nerves reporting what’s happening inside and outside the body, and the motor nerves sending instructions back out to tell the body how to respond. When that communication gets disrupted, something we call subluxation and dysautonomia shows up as stuck tension, poor coordination, and disorganized function throughout the body.
And here’s something worth sitting with: a child’s brain doubles in size in the first year of life alone, and keeps developing rapidly through the first several years. Making sure that system is functioning well isn’t a nice-to-have. It may be one of the most important things we can measure for your child, arguably even more telling than where they land on a height and weight chart.
The Three Scans, in “Real Human” Language
We use three different INSiGHT Scans together to get a complete picture:
NeuroThermal Scan – This is usually the first scan we run, and we can do it on anyone from a one-day-old infant to mom and dad. It shows us where in the body stress and tension are concentrated, which helps explain symptoms tied to digestion, immunity, and hormone regulation — think colic, reflux, constipation, ear infections, allergies, and sleep struggles.
NeuroSpinal EMG Scan – This scan looks at muscle tone and tension patterns, and it’s especially valuable for children navigating autism, sensory processing differences, ADHD, or anxiety. It can reveal whether a child’s nervous system is stuck in “fight or flight” (what we sometimes call a Raging Bull pattern), struggling with coordination and focus (a Drunken Bull pattern), or dealing with a combination of both.
Heart Rate Variability (HRV) Scan – This one measures adaptability — how well your child’s body can handle everyday stressors like germs, minor injuries, or big emotions and bounce back. Low variability often shows up in kids who struggle with rigidity, meltdowns, or difficulty with transitions, and it tends to improve as their nervous system regains balance through care.
Together, these three scans give us, and you, a clear, objective window into what’s actually happening inside your child’s nervous system, instead of just guessing based on symptoms alone.
Your Child Is More Than a List of Symptoms
Every child has a different story.
Two children may both struggle with sleep, focus, or regulation, but the stress patterns underneath those concerns may look very different. That is why we do not believe in guessing or using the same plan for every family.
We listen carefully to what you have been noticing. We learn about your child’s history, development, daily routines, and biggest challenges. Then we use the scans to add objective information to that story.
The goal is not simply to name another problem.
The goal is to understand your child more clearly and create a thoughtful path forward.
You Deserve More Than “Wait and See”
Parents know their children.
When your instincts tell you that something is still being missed, it is okay to keep asking questions and looking for a deeper understanding.
Neurological INSiGHT scans offer another way to assess the system that helps coordinate regulation, movement, digestion, sleep, and adaptability.
They do not replace medical testing, diagnosis, or care from other healthcare providers. They give us additional information that helps guide neurologically focused chiropractic care and track progress over time.
